What to do now in deep decarbonisation

First rule: no offsets

(summarising the Emissions Gap Report 2022)

The gap is now 12-23 (30%-45%) gigatonne of annual emissions between the promised reductions and the 1.5 degree scenario.

It is necessary.

Targeting the right areas is critical

And then in agriculture, the big areas are supply chain decarbonisation and reduction in meat/cheese consumption.

My recent work has focused on:

  • Water and wastewater decarbonisation
  • On-farm decarbonisation
  • Just transition for fossil fuel generation using high-productivity agriculture
  • Decarbonisation of fertiliser, fuel production and plastics using green hydrogen

What more can I do?

What other action could be useful for reducing global emissions that could be done in Australia?

I wonder….

That is worth thinking about.
